Bluethroat.

I chose to paint a Bluethroat for my latest piece of art. I also went smaller this time, around A4 size.

I had to get the blue just right, they are such a stunning bird which I have been lucky enough to see all the variations, all lumped under the name Bluethroat but quite different with some showing a white spot on the throat,no spot at all and some with a red spot. This is of the white spotted variety ranging through Southern and Central Europe.

Wolf.

For my second close up study I went for a Wolf. It was a big move away from my normal topics but I just fancied something different. There's quite a few thousand brush strokes in this painting that's for sure!

Toucan.

For a close up study I chose something different than what I would normally choose, a Toucan.
I knew the eye and surround would be tricky, but I was happy how it turned out so panic over!

I specifically left the bill as a colour wash as the focus was all about that eye.
